BIG Architects alum Simon Irgens joins Spacemaker as Architect and Customer Success Manager
Simon Irgens holds a Master of Architecture from the The Royal Academy of Fine Art in Copenhagen, Denmark (2008), where he specialized in complex buildings and large scale urban projects. His strong interest in digital fabrication and BIM motivated him to get involved in faculty research, where he contributed to exhibitions on the subject in Copenhagen and Berlin.
Simon worked in the Copenhagen office of the now-world famous BIG Architects in their early years. When he moved to Oslo in 2011, he joined Dyrvik Architects and contributed to the growth of the company with his dedication and strength in early phase design development. He was later instrumental in reshaping the firm’s sustainability profile and building a skilled team around it. Simon has led and contributed to all stages of building projects and has a wide knowledge of different building functions, from residential and hotel, to office, to commercial and cultural buildings.
Simon also taught in Oslo School of Architecture (AHO) and worked as a freelance consultant before joining Spacemaker. He says, “I am always looking to accelerate the experience and improve the performance of a building. Exploring multiple alternatives with curiosity and selecting with logic. I find this design method inclusive to large teams and transparent towards clients.”
