Oslo – Tuesday 30 November 2021: Spacemaker announces today that BPD | Bouwfonds Property Development has chosen Spacemaker’s AI platform to support the next step of the company’s digitalization of their design and development process.
Spacemaker is a cloud-based software that supports the early-stage design and planning of a project using advanced analytics, AI and generative design, from feasibility studies and massing models to optimizing existing design concepts and delivering development plans.
Design, analyze, iterate and collaborate in the same 3D model
In both the Netherlands and Germany, the pressure on the housing market is immense. BPD’s mission is to create sustainable, affordable and inclusive living environments. An important way for the company to achieve is this by implementing the most up-to-date digital tools. The partnership with Spacemaker fits with BPD's ambition to be at the forefront of innovation in real estate development in the Netherlands and Germany. Through Spacemaker's platform, BPD can design, analyze and iterate in a 3D model from day one of every new development.
"The cooperation with Spacemaker enables us to take the next step in the further digitalization of our work. By integrating parametric design and advanced analytics into our development process, we can work more efficiently, provide insights for our key municipal partners and also, for example, with architects and urban planners and engage in different types of dialogues with them. This will further accelerate and improve the development of complex sites using our integrated approach. In addition, we opted for Spacemaker because we can use the same platform in both the Netherlands and Germany," says Erik Nieuwenburg, Director of Digital Transformation.
A seamless digital workflow
Spacemaker enables developers to rapidly test and present many different designs in real time during early-stage planning. This allows them to maximise the full potential of a site, while ensuring good living environments that are, of course, compliant with all legal requirements and standards. As Spacemaker provides an integrated digital workflow, different teams at BPD can work together on the same 3D model and make decisions based on data. This not only improves efficiency, but also reduces risks and minimizes error costs.
Håvard Haukeland, Spacemaker co-founder and Senior Director at Autodesk adds:
“BPD has an incredible amount of knowledge and experience with real estate development in the Netherlands and Germany. We are proud that BPD has the confidence in Spacemaker’s software to help the company take the next step in its digital transformation in the Netherlands and Germany, and continue designing healthy, livable and future-proof neighbourhoods.”
